Phare du Risban is a 63-meter-tall lighthouse located near the entrance to Dunkirk’s harbor on France’s northern coast. Built in the mid-19th century, it stands prominently against the often dramatic skies of the North Sea. Photographers can capture the lighthouse from the nearby beach, jetty, or harbor area, using tidal changes and weather conditions to create varied moods. Sunset and sunrise provide the most flattering light, while stormy conditions add a rugged, atmospheric quality to seascape shots. The site is easily reached from central Dunkirk, either on foot or by bicycle along the waterfront. (Dunkirk, France)
