Piping Plover Nesting Area
Piping Plovers are listed as an endangered species in Canada and is regulated under Ontario's Endangered Species Act. These are shorebirds that may be seen on Wasaga's beachfront which provides excellent habitat for them to nest. There is an active nesting area at the far end of Beach 1 that is roped off to prevent people from getting too close to the nests. This area is an ideal location for bird photography, if you have a keen eye and patience.
