Pniv castle sits in ruins after previous restoration efforts came to a halt. It was built in the mid-1500s and served as an important fort post during the Polish-Turkish war. During the national liberation war of 1648-1654 the fortress was besieged and than later the castle became the property of the Austrian state and was left to decline. Although it is mostly abandoned it still continues to be an interesting fortification complex. (Nadvirna, Ukraine)
