Pont de Besalú
Spanning the Fluvià River at the entrance to the medieval town, this 12th-century Romanesque bridge is one of the most distinctive in Catalonia, with its irregular angled arches, defensive gatehouse, and central fortified tower creating a striking silhouette against the surrounding landscape. The classic shot is taken from the riverbank downstream, where you can frame the full length of the bridge reflected in the calm water below; a wide-angle lens works well here to capture the whole structure without distortion. Early morning is ideal, when mist sometimes rises off the river and the warm stone glows in soft light before crowds arrive. You can also walk down to the water's edge for low perspectives that emphasize the angular arches. The surrounding old town provides additional context if you step back further on the far bank. Parking is available just outside the historic center. (Besalú, Girona, Catalonia, Spain)
