Pont Suspendu de la Rivière de l'Est is a historic wooden and brick suspension bridge spanning the East River that was the longest bridge in the world when it was built in 1894. The bridge closed to road traffic in 1979 when a larger more modern bridge was built running parallel to the suspension bridge. Due to safety concerns the bridge also closed for pedestrian use in 2016. (La Rivière de l'Est, Réunion Island)
