Port Lockroy is a historic British Antarctic station that is being slowly transformed into a museum. (Port Lockroy was used as base for the British military during World War II.) The port is home to a large gentoo penguin colony - so many that the penguins have pretty much taken over. There are many incredible photogenic views of the nesting penguins, scenic bay dotted with icebergs and Wiencke Island as a stunning backdrop. Uniquely it is also home the most southerly operational post office in the world. (Goudier Island, Antarctic)
