Port Washington Breakwater Light
The Port Washington Breakwater Light, located at the end of a long pier extending into Lake Michigan from Port Washington’s harbor, is a unique Art Deco-style lighthouse known for its angular concrete base and slender steel tower. Painted white and weathered by time, the structure contrasts beautifully with colorful sunrises and sunsets, making it an excellent subject for minimalist and silhouette photography. The breakwater provides a direct but exposed path to the lighthouse, so caution is advised, especially in windy or icy conditions. For safer vantage points, photographers can also shoot from the marina or nearby Rotary Park. This location is ideal year-round, with calm waters often offering smooth reflections in the golden hour.
