Prince Albert’s Cairn, also known as the Balmoral Pyramid, stands prominently on the slopes of Craig Lowrigan within the Balmoral Estate. Erected by Queen Victoria in memory of her husband, the large granite monument resembles a stone pyramid and is surrounded by panoramic views of Royal Deeside and the River Dee valley. The moderate hike begins near Balmoral Castle and winds through woodland and heath, offering several photogenic spots along the way. The cairn itself makes a striking subject, especially against a backdrop of dramatic Highland skies and rolling hills. Sunset and late afternoon provide the best lighting, with fewer visitors and warm tones highlighting the landscape. (Balmoral, Scotland, United Kingdom)
