Pulgas Water Temple
This hidden gem in the San Francisco Peninsula is a stunning neoclassical columned rotunda that frames a long reflecting pool, creating one of the most architecturally striking and undervisited photo spots in the Bay Area. The classic composition is to stand at the far end of the pool and shoot straight down the water toward the columns, using the reflection to double the symmetry. You can also get lower and closer to the water's surface to exaggerate the reflection, or move to the sides to capture the columns against the surrounding eucalyptus and oak trees. Golden hour light is ideal here, with morning offering cooler tones and less foot traffic; afternoon gives you warmer light that brings out the warmth in the stone columns. A 24-70mm lens covers most compositions well. Parking is free and the walk from the lot is just a few minutes. (Redwood City, California, United States)
