The Pyramid of Khafre is the middle of the three Ancient Egyptian Pyramids of Giza, the second tallest at 136 metres and second largest of the group. It is the only pyramid that still has cladding at the top. Built as the tomb of the Fourth-Dynasty Pharaoh Khafre, this monument is especially photogenic due to its sharp angles, imposing symmetry, and strategic elevation, which can create the illusion of it being the tallest. Photographers can capture dramatic contrasts between light and shadow throughout the day, with the best lighting occurring around sunrise and sunset. Easily accessible from Cairo and located adjacent to the Sphinx, this site offers countless compositional opportunities blending architectural grandeur with Egypt’s desert landscape.
