About Quai des Récollets
Quai des Récollets runs along the Bave River in Saint-Céré. Little stone bridges cross throughout town give the perfect straight down the channel between stone quay walls. Old houses line the banks, with a trees and greenery dotting the way. A few of the bridges have an amazing view of the domed bell tower of the Église des Récollets sitting above the roof tops and water as it winds through town. The water is usually still enough to experiment with reflection photography. Early morning is the calmest time. Soft light suits the pale stone, and a bit of cloud will keep the reflections from blowing out. Flowers and greenery spill down the quay walls during the spring and summer to add some texture to your foregrounds. Walking along the riverside lets you explore the town's collection of stone bridges to experiment with which views match your shooting style. The interior of the church is closed while it waits for restoration, but the exterior is worth capturing while you are in the area. (Saint-Céré, Lot, France)
