Radio Kootwijk
Radio Kootwijk is a historic Art Deco radio transmitter building set amid vast heathland and forest. This monumental structure, completed in the 1920s, was once a key communication hub linking the Netherlands to its former colonies. Its bold, monolithic architecture stands in dramatic contrast to the surrounding natural landscape, offering compelling subjects for architectural and landscape photographers alike. The expansive heathlands are especially photogenic during late summer when the heather blooms in vibrant purple. Access is via well-marked trails and a nearby parking area, with the best light occurring during sunrise and sunset when the low sun casts long shadows and warms the stone façade. Due to its cultural and historical significance, access to the building's interior may be limited to guided tours or events. (Apeldoorn, Gelderland, Netherlands)
