Rasa

Rasa is a car-free medieval village perched on a steep hillside above the Centovalli valley, reachable only by cable car from Intragna or on foot, and that isolation has kept it looking much as it did centuries ago. Stone houses, narrow cobbled paths, and a small church cluster together against a backdrop of forested alpine slopes, giving you layered compositions that feel genuinely timeless. Shoot from the lower paths looking up toward the village to emphasize the dramatic hillside setting, or climb above the rooftops for wide shots that place the stone architecture against the valley and distant ridgelines. A wide to standard zoom in the 24-50mm range handles most situations well here. Morning light hits the village facades beautifully on clear days, and overcast conditions soften the contrast between the dark stone and bright sky. Arrive early on the first cable car to have the narrow lanes to yourself before day visitors arrive. (Rasa, Ticino, Switzerland)
