Its construction began in 1699. Arrivals in 1697, the Ursulines were sent to Trois-Rivières by the Bishop of Québec to fill the city and its surroundings a permanent school and a hospital for the poor and soldiers, especially for the injured workers of the Forges du Saint-Maurice . In 1715, the Ursuline community made the first enlargements of its monastery by the construction of the chapel and the hospital. Despite the two fires that ravaged the monastery in 1752 and 1806 , the Ursulines have preserved the original walls of the building.
