Rogaland Arboretet is a botanical garden just south of Sandnes, home to over 1400 species of trees and shrubs spread across a lush, layered landscape that rewards patient, detail-oriented photographers. You can work across multiple scales here, from wide compositions using tall conifers and winding paths as leading lines, to tight macro shots of bark textures, mosses, and seasonal blooms. The wooden footbridges offer elevated angles over dense undergrowth and small water features, which work well with a mid-range zoom or a wide-angle lens. Overcast days are ideal, as the soft diffused light brings out rich greens and reduces harsh shadows in the dense canopy. Autumn is particularly rewarding for color, while spring delivers fresh growth and flowering shrubs. The garden is free to enter with parking nearby, making it easy to visit early morning when the light is low and the paths are quiet. (Sandnes, Rogaland, Norway)
