Rundetaarn
Rundetaarn, or the Round Tower, is an iconic landmark in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark, and one of Europe’s oldest functioning observatories. Built in the 17th century by King Christian IV, the tower is renowned for its distinctive spiral ramp, which winds upward for 209 meters, offering photographers a chance to capture stunning architectural curves and perspectives. At the top, the outdoor viewing platform provides sweeping panoramic views of Copenhagen's historic skyline, including its copper-roofed spires and modern cityscapes. Inside, the Library Hall—once housing the University of Copenhagen’s collection—is now used for exhibitions, adding cultural depth to any visit. The best time to photograph Rundetaarn is during clear days for optimal views or twilight hours for capturing the city bathed in soft evening light. Easily accessible from central Copenhagen, this historic structure offers a blend of history, architecture, and scenic vistas that will enrich any photographer's portfolio.
