Ryvarden Fyr is a striking 19th-century wooden lighthouse perched on a rugged, wave-worn rocky peninsula along the Norwegian coast, where the open sea meets the entrance to Bømlafjorden. The contrast between its crisp white tower, bright red lantern room, and the dark, textured rocks below makes it a naturally compelling subject. Try shooting from low on the rocks to emphasize the jagged foreground and give the lighthouse scale, or pull back to include the surrounding outbuildings and coastline for a wider environmental composition. A wide angle lens works well for capturing both the structure and the dramatic seascape together. The soft, directional light of early morning or the long golden hours of late evening suit the location best; in midsummer you can take advantage of near-midnight light that barely dips below the horizon. The site is accessible on foot and relatively open, giving you room to circle the lighthouse and find multiple angles. (Sveio Municipality, Vestland, Norway)
