Sacra di San Michele
Sacra di San Michele is a medieval abbey perched on Mount Pirchiriano above the Susa Valley in northern Italy. Its stone towers and fortified walls rise directly from the rocky peak, creating powerful compositions that combine dramatic architecture with breathtaking alpine scenery. Photographers can capture the abbey framed against the valley floor far below or focus on the detailed stonework and atmospheric interior spaces. The site is especially striking at sunrise or sunset when warm light enhances both the structure and the surrounding mountains. Accessible by car and a short uphill walk from the parking area, it is one of Piedmont’s most photogenic landmarks. (Sant’Ambrogio di Torino, Piedmont, Italy)
