Sail Rock (Russian Skala Parus), is a natural sandstone monolith of late Cretaceous age located on the shore of the Black Sea, in Krasnodar Krai, Russia. It resembles the outline of a ship's sail, hence its name. The origin of the cutout isn't known for sure, many guides state that the hole was a defence against mountain artillery during the Caucasian War.
