Sainte-Anne-de-Beaumont Chapel
Perched on a gentle hillside above the Bay of Fundy, this white wooden chapel dates to 1842 and carries deep spiritual significance as the oldest Mi'kmaq place of active worship in New Brunswick. The simple, classic architecture photographs beautifully against dramatic skies, and the surrounding landscape shifts character with the extraordinary tidal range of the Bay of Fundy nearby. Shoot the chapel from the lower ground to emphasize the steeple against open sky, or pull back to include the pastoral hillside and bay in the background. Golden hour light from the east in the morning warms the white facade nicely. When the tide is out, head down to the bay shoreline to find exposed tidal flats, textured mud patterns, and wide coastal compositions. A wider lens around 24mm works well for capturing both the chapel and its landscape context. Parking is straightforward and the site is easy to walk around.
