Schlossgarten (Palace Gardens) was originally created in 1814 by Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig in the style of an English landscape garden. The Palace Gardens have maintained their original appearance, almost unchanged over the 200 years of their existence and still contain some of the original tree population. A highlight is the rhododendron bloom from the end of April to the beginning of June. The plants are now among the oldest rhododendrons in Germany. Historical buildings such as the Court Gardener’s Lodge, the Tea Pavilion and the Winter House blend harmoniously into the park landscape. (Oldenburg, Germany)
