This little terrace garden on the hillside south of the old town gives you the classic Český Krumlov panorama, and it does most of the work for you. You look out over a tight cluster of terracotta rooftops stacked at every height, with the painted round Castle Tower rising on the left side of the castle complex and the tall Gothic spire of St. Vitus Church anchoring the right. The Vltava loops around the town below, so you get the river bend, the rooftops and the two towers lined up in a single frame without needing a long lens. A wide angle captures the whole sweep, while a short telephoto lets you isolate the tower and church or compress the layers of roofs into a denser, more graphic shot. The viewpoint sits roughly south of the town and faces north across it, which means late afternoon and golden hour light comes in from the left and rakes warm across the rooftops and the castle, the strongest window of the day here. Early morning works too for soft, even light and far fewer people, since this is a popular and fairly compact spot that fills up by mid morning. In late spring and summer the slope in front of the railing grows tall grass and wildflowers you can drop into the foreground for a layered shot, and the benches give you a stable surface if you are shooting in low light or bracketing. Access is easy on foot from the town centre, there is no fee, and the only real caveat is timing your visit around the crowds and the direction of the sun.
