Shanklin Beach
Shanklin Beach is a classic English seaside scene with golden sand, colourful beach huts lining the sea wall, and dramatic sandstone cliffs rising at the southern end near Shanklin Chine. The beach huts make for strong foreground subjects with a wide or standard zoom, especially when you shoot along the row to create a leading line toward the cliffs. At the Chine end, the thatched Fisherman's Cottage pub sits at the base of the gorge and pairs beautifully with the towering cliffs above for a layered composition. Shoot at golden hour for warm light that brings out the rich amber tones in the sandstone and sand alike. Low tide opens up more beach and allows you to walk the shoreline toward Luccombe for quieter, more dramatic cliff shots. Parking is available at the top of the chine with steps down to the beach.
