Skinakas Observatory sits high on the top of Ida mountain. The observatory was built to be timed with the arrival of Halley's Comet in the Spring of 1986. The Observatory is used for the practical training and teaching needs of undergraduate students of the Department of Physics of the University of Crete, as well as for postgraduate research programs. During the year there are many open days when visitors can enter the facilities of the Observatory and, weather permitting, observe through the 1.3m telescope. There are stunning views from the grounds that are open to shoot even on days the facilities aren't open for tours. https://skinakas.physics.uoc.gr/en/ (Anogia, Crete, Greece)
