Smith Rock State Park
With dramatic cliffs, towering red rocks, a meandering river and views for days, Smith Rock State Park is an incredible photographer’s playground. This rugged landscape was formed by volcanic events with ash a half-mile thick blanket the area, which hardened into rock known as Smith Rock tuff. Then wind and water erosion slowly formed the spectacular spires seen today. (Smith Rock State Park, Oregon, USA)
