Snow Falls is a dramatic gorge waterfall on the Little Androscoggin River, where the water carves through a narrow slot of ancient metamorphic rock before dropping into a swirling pool below. The tight canyon walls create natural framing, and you can shoot from the viewing platform directly above the falls for a top-down perspective, or work your way to the base for a more dramatic low angle looking up through the gorge. A wide-angle lens works well here to capture both the cascading water and the textured rock walls in a single frame. Overcast days are ideal since the canopy and canyon walls already create contrast challenges in direct sun, and the diffused light brings out the deep greens of the moss and the cool tones of the stone. The rest area off Route 26 makes access very straightforward, with a short walk to the falls. (West Paris, Maine, United States)
