St Botolph's Church

St Botolph's Church - Photo by charlielisa1 / 1

St Botolph's Church is an imposing historic stone church dating back to the 14th century. It has been nicknamed the "Boston Stump" since its construction and was long used as a landmark for sailors, and on a clear day can be seen from Norfolk. The church is one of the largest parish churches in England, and has one of the tallest Medieval towers in the country. You can climb the 209 steps to the top of the tower and take in the breathtaking view over the surrounding countryside. The tower was also important in World War II, when British and American pilots would use The Stump as a signpost to guide them back to base. (Boston, Lincolnshire, England)
