St. Columba's Church is a striking late 19th-century Gothic Revival Catholic church in Newark, offering strong architectural details that reward patient composition. The red brick facade, pointed arches, and decorative stonework give you plenty to work with, whether you are going wide to capture the full exterior or moving in tight for detail shots of the ornate entranceway and window tracery. Shooting from across the street gives you the most complete view of the facade, and a 24-35mm lens works well for getting the full height without too much distortion. Overcast days are ideal since they eliminate harsh shadows and let the brick tones come through evenly; mid-morning on a cloudy day is a reliable choice. The surrounding streetscape adds urban context if you pull back further. Street parking is generally available nearby, and the sidewalk gives you a comfortable working distance from the building.
