St. Philip's Cathedral
St. Philip's Cathedral is a stunning Grade I listed English Baroque church sitting at the heart of Birmingham's city centre, surrounded by Colmore Row's grand Victorian architecture. The exterior is elegant and symmetrical, making it well-suited to wide-angle shots that capture the full facade alongside the surrounding streetscape. Shooting from across the open square gives you room to compose with people moving through the foreground, adding a sense of the daily life that flows around the building. Overcast days work particularly well here, as the soft, even light brings out the warm stone tones without harsh shadows. Inside, the Burne-Jones stained-glass windows are the real prize; a longer focal length helps isolate the detail and colour, and the light through them is richest on a bright morning. The cathedral is freely accessible during opening hours, and the surrounding square gives you plenty of space to experiment with perspective. (Birmingham, England)
