This is the oldest know school on Prince Edward Island, still standing where it was originally built in the early 19th century by the people who first settled in the district of Skinner’s Pond. Stompin’ Tom Connors, one of Canada’s well know folksong composers who lived on the Aylward farm for several of his boyhood years in the 1940’s, attended school in this building.
