Clusters of pale limestone rise from a grassy hilltop at Stone Garden Citatah, an hour west of Bandung in the limestone hills around Gunung Masigit. This is a stunning spot where ancient rocks are scattered across an open green hilltop. Here you can easily wander between the boulders to shoot them close where their odd shapes and pitted surfaces contrast amazingly with the lush soft grass. From this hilltop you get a full 360° view looking out over the villages and farms spread out below, plus the working quarries off to one side. Those mines are a unique addition to the scene adding an industrial contrast to the rich natural scene. Sunrise here is an amazing moment. If you get here before six when the low sun slowly spreads across the stone and throws long shadows throughout the field. Dress in layers if you are able to get here for sunris, its often cold and windy up there at that hour. If you are not an early riser. late afternoon works well too. Getting up here it quite the drive yo a bumpy road shared with mining trucks, then a short uphill walk from the car park to the rocks. There is a small entry fee to explore the rock field and a parking charge. (Citatah, West Java, Indonesia)
