The Canadian Museum of Nature occupies a grand Neo-Gothic stone building that rivals the Parliament Buildings in architectural drama, making it one of Ottawa's most rewarding exterior shooting subjects. The ornate turrets, arched windows, and textured limestone facade reward wide-angle shooting from across the street, where you can frame the full symmetry of the structure against open sky. For tighter architectural detail, a mid-range zoom lets you isolate the carved stonework and decorative elements. Overcast days are ideal for exterior work since they eliminate harsh shadows in the deep window recesses, though golden hour adds warm tones to the pale stone. The building is located on Metcalfe Street with good sidewalk access and a small open area in front that gives you enough distance to go wide without distortion. Inside, the Victoria Memorial Museum Building's grand hall offers compelling interior compositions, especially looking up toward the vaulted ceilings. (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
