Photos of The Pinnacles
About The Pinnacles
Thousands of huge limestone pillars rise from a stark landscape of yellow sand to form one of Australia’s most intriguing landscapes. The Pinnacles are amazing natural limestone structures, formed slowly over time as the coastal winds eroded the surrounding sand leaving the incredible pillars exposed. The stark relief of the Pinnacles against a backdrop of constantly shifting sand dunes creates an eerie, ever changing landscape, best photographed at dawn or sunset when the shadows create remarkable patterns and shapes that ripple over the sands.
