The Pyramid of North Dakota

The Pyramid of North Dakota is a slowly-eroding cement pyramid and all that's left of a $6 billion nuclear launch facility created as part of the Safeguard Program back in the early 1970s. The pyramid itself was a radar system for tracking any incoming Soviet missiles that might be coming in over Canada. Silos containing surface-to-air missiles studded the grounds of the facility, ready to deliver their payloads to enemies of the U.S. during the Cold War. The entire thing now sits empty and unused. Since it was part of a military defence system it is still fenced off so you won't be able to get too close to the pyramid, but there are many photogenic angles from outside the fence line.
