About Three Beauties Fairy Chimneys (Üç Güzeller)
A unique trio of volcanic rock formations, two tall cones and a smaller one beside them, make up The Three Beauties Fairy Chimneys (Üç Güzeller). Each wears a different dark cap of harder stone, adding to their charm. They stand on a slope above the rolling valley country, slowly worn soft and smooth by erosion. A wooden boardwalk leads to a beautiful terrace sitting just above the formations, and on clear days Mount Erciyes appears on the horizon behind them. From the terrace, you can pull out your longer lenses to draw the volcano's peak in closer behind the caps. There is also a steep path that drops down from the boardwalk into the valley so you can experiment with shooting up and setting the caps against an open sky. Sunset is the perfect time here, although it does get quite crowded with everyone wanting to capture the beautiful colours. Low evening light warms the pale rock and sharpens the contrast with the dark caps. If you are able to come at sunrise instead you might get lucky enough to pair the trio with a on flying day when the sky fills with hot air balloons. The site sits right along the main road from Nevşehir to Ürgüp, with lots of parking and well marked trails. (Ürgüp, Nevşehir Province, Türkiye)
