Tourlitis Lighthouse stands dramatically on a narrow rock pillar just off the coast of Chora on the island of Andros. Originally built in 1897 and later reconstructed, the small stone lighthouse rises directly from the sea, creating one of the most unusual lighthouse settings in Greece. From viewpoints along the cliffs and pathways near the Tourlitis area and the nearby Venetian castle ruins, photographers can frame the lighthouse against the deep blue Aegean Sea and rugged coastal rocks. Waves crashing around the base of the sea stack add movement and energy to compositions, especially during windy conditions. Sunrise and sunset often bring soft light and colorful skies over the water, making this a rewarding location for coastal landscape photography. (Andros, South Aegean, Greece)
