Trinity Church
Trinity Church is one of New England's oldest surviving Anglican buildings, a compact 18th-century wooden structure that rewards close attention to its Georgian proportions and weathered exterior details. The white clapboard facade, symmetrical windows, and modest steeple make for clean, formal compositions, and the surrounding historic cemetery offers strong foreground elements with headstones dating back to the colonial era. Overcast days work particularly well here, softening shadows and bringing out the texture of the aged wood and worn stone markers. Morning light from the east catches the front facade directly, while late afternoon wraps the building in warmer tones from the side. A moderate wide-angle lens lets you include the church in context with the churchyard and surrounding trees, while a longer focal length is useful for isolating architectural details and carved stonework on the older graves. Street parking is available nearby and the site is easy to walk around. (Brooklyn, Connecticut, United States)
