Trinity Church rises above Queen Anne Square in downtown Newport, a beautifully preserved Georgian wooden church dating to the 1720s that offers strong architectural photography in a compact, walkable setting. The white clapboard exterior, tall steeple, and arched windows photograph well from the surrounding square, where you can frame the full facade with open sky or use the nearby trees for framing and depth. Early morning light hits the front of the church cleanly before crowds arrive, and overcast days work particularly well for bringing out the detail in the painted woodwork without harsh shadows. A wide to standard zoom in the 24-70mm range covers most angles comfortably. Getting low and shooting upward emphasizes the steeple against the sky, while stepping back to include the square gives you useful context and foreground interest. The interior is also worth visiting for its three-tiered wine glass pulpit and colonial pew arrangements. (Newport, Rhode Island, United States)
