About Trollharen Boathouses
Trollharen is a small fishing village at the end of the road on the Granön peninsula, with a series ofold boathouses lining a little harbour on Sweden's Gulf of Bothnia coast. Fishing families originally settled here in the 1850s and there has been a community revolving around fishing here ever since. Offshore, the shallow, stony islands of the Axmar Nature Reserve spread out to the south and east. The harbour faces east over open water, so early morning light comes in low off the sea, making it an amazing spot to experiment with sunrise photography. There are numerous composition options all along the shoreline. You can back up along one side of the water to line up the boathouses, or set up in the middle of the dock to capture the boathouses as they almost mimicc each other on each side. Plus calm days create clean reflections in the harbour. Because this is a quiet little fishing village you will have lots of time and space to experiment with finding just the right composition to suit your shooting style. To get there, follow Granövägen Rd all the way to the coastline where it ends and leave extra time to pause at photogenic views along the way. (Söderhamn, Gävleborg, Sweden)
