Perched on the rocky southern tip of Norway, this Snøhetta-designed concrete monolith tilts dramatically into the North Sea, half-submerged like a sunken bunker meeting the waves. The angular form creates strong geometric lines against the rugged coastline, and when the restaurant is operating after dark, a ghostly green glow emanates from beneath the surface where the structure disappears underwater. Shoot from the shoreline rocks at low angle to emphasize the building's tilt and its relationship with the water, or step back for a wider composition that includes the surrounding cliffs and sea. Blue hour and full darkness are ideal, when the underwater illumination contrasts beautifully with the deep blue sky and reflections shimmer on the water's surface. A wide angle lens in the 16-24mm range works well here. Wear sturdy shoes for the uneven coastal rocks, and time your visit to coincide with restaurant opening hours for the signature green glow.
