Standing on the High Street, this medieval church anchors one of Oxford's most photographed stretches of architecture, with its ornate 14th-century spire rising dramatically above the roofline. The twisted columns and carved figures of the baroque south porch make for compelling close-up work, especially with a 24-70mm lens that lets you capture both the intricate detail and its relationship to the busy street. Climb the tower for the real reward: a sweeping view over Radcliffe Square that puts the domed Radcliffe Camera front and center, framed by the rooftops of Brasenose and All Souls. Shoot from the tower in the late afternoon when warm light rakes across the stone, bringing out texture and depth. Early morning is ideal for street-level shots of the porch with fewer crowds. The tower entrance fee is modest and the climb is manageable, with a narrow staircase opening onto a wraparound viewing gallery. (Oxford, England)
