About Valle della Luna
Valle della Luna is unique granite valley running down to the sea on the western side of Capo Testa. Wind and salt have rounded the boulders into smooth shapes and some have been given nicknames over the years like the Bear's Hand and the Dinosaur Rock. The valley stretched out between two granite ridges and opens onto a string of small coves. A hippy community settled here in the sixties, and you'll pass carved and painted signs along the path. Since whole thing faces west, sunset lines up straight down the valley and out over the Strait of Bonifacio toward Corsica. That makes evening the perfect time to be here. The granite turns rich shades of gold and the shapes turn into silhouettes. Down at the coves the water is a crisp green over sand, taking some time to shoot from up on the rocks will highlight the colour. Parking is at the small clearing along Strada Poltusinu. In July and August the spaces will all be filled by mid morning, and the town runs shuttle buses. By later in the day and into the evening hours there should be lots of space for you to park and take your time capturing sunset. (Santa Teresa Gallura, Sardinia, Italy)
