Venice Art Walls
The Venice Art Walls stretch along the boardwalk just steps from the sand, offering a constantly rotating canvas of murals, graffiti, and street art that makes every visit look different from the last. The bold colors and graphic lettering work especially well as backdrops for portrait work, or you can focus purely on the walls themselves and look for interesting details, layered textures, or unexpected color combinations. A wide-to-normal lens in the 24-50mm range covers most situations well here. Shoot in the morning when the light comes in at a low angle from the east, raking across the painted surfaces and bringing out texture, and before the boardwalk crowds build up. Overcast days also work surprisingly well by softening shadows and keeping colors saturated. The walls run parallel to the boardwalk, so positioning yourself straight on or at a slight angle gives you clean, flat compositions with minimal distortion.
