Gaiola Island is located offshore in the Gulf of Naples, but very close to the coast, reachable with a few strokes of swimming, or kayak. In the 17th century the island was virtually littered with Roman factories, while, two centuries later, the island served as a battery in defence. It's also known as "cursed island" and it's lived up to that name bringing upheaval into the lives of all that have owned it over the years. (Naples, Italy)
