Volandstind is a dramatic 457-meter peak on Flakstadøya that rewards photographers with sweeping panoramic views over some of the Lofoten Islands' most iconic scenery. From the summit, you can frame the turquoise waters of Skjelfjord to the south and the red fishing cabins of Ramberg and Fredvang to the north, with jagged peaks stretching in every direction. The ridge approach offers excellent compositions along the way, so bring a wide-angle lens and shoot back toward the valley as you ascend. Golden hour in the long summer evenings is ideal here, with warm sidelight raking across the surrounding peaks and reflecting off the fjords below. The trail starts from the back of the mountain and is more approachable than the steep faces suggest, though good footwear is essential.
