Wahat Al Karama (Oasis of Dignity) is a beautiful memorial composed of three structures: the leaning pillars, the pavilion of honor, and the memorial plaza. The names of all Emirati soldiers who are killed in duty are inscribed in the pavilion of honor. The memorial sits directly across from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which adds to the peaceful and solemn feeling of the pavilion. The pillars are an incredible public art structure made up of 31 massive leaning tablets clad in aluminium, the symbolism behind the Memorial is clear: each tablet leans against the other, portraying the unity, solidarity and mutual support that bind the leadership of the UAE with its citizens, residents and the servicemen and women who protect them.
