The Walloomsac Inn is quite photogenic with its prominent location and unkempt appearance. It is one of the most historic buildings in the picturesque village of Old Bennington. The inn, with its colourful history has served the public as an inn, and later bed‐and‐breakfast, dating back to the mid-1700s. The most historically prominent guests of the Inn were Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in June of 1791. Jefferson was U.S. secretary of state at the time and wished to visit the new state of Vermont. Madison accompanied him as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. The inn now sits in a state of disrepair, unused by still privately owned so be sure to photography the property only from the public roads and don't venture onto the grounds to explore.
