Wei Sawdong Falls is a stunning view where the water drops in three tiers down a forested gorge. Each tier lands in its own rocky basin filled with clear blue green water. To reach the falls you park just off of Dainthlen road and the rest is on foot. The hike in/out is part of the adventure, and the views are definitely worth the effort. It is roughly 20 to 40 minutes of walking down a steep track of stone steps, bamboo bridge and wooden rails, and remember you need to climb all the way back up to get back to your car. Partway down there is a viewpoint where all three tiers stack into a single frame. If you keep going all the way to the bottom, you'll get right to the lowest pool and be able to capture the drop filling the space above it. The gorge sits in shade for much of the day, which helps the rich blue in the water comes out. October through March is the stretch when the pools run clearest. Bring a cloth for the lens, because spray carries further than you expect near the base. A compact tripod helps if you want the water smoothed out, though anything bulky is awkward on the hike down. There is an entry fee and a parking charge at the top. Local guides work on the site and going down with someone that is familiar with the trail is often helpful.
