About Wellington Beach Lighthouse
With it's eye catching green trim, the Wellington Beach Lighthouse sits at the end of a rock jetty,with Lake Ontario behind it and the harbour channel running beside it. The light marks the cut that runs from the lake into Wellington Harbour. It is small enough to frame whole with a short lens using the jetty at the perfect leading lines to pull you out into the wide open lake. If you are patient, the channel often has boats heading in and out between the lake and the harbour, especially on warm weekends. There is a small path along the rocky jetty so you can get quite close to this lighthouse. This gives you a bit of space to experiment with pairing the lighthouse against the water to highlight the endless feeling of Lake Ontario. Lake is often calm in the early mornings, with less boat traffic too, letting your experiment with reflection photography. The golden light of evening gives the lighthouse a peaceful feel so it is worth hanging around for sunset. Parking is right at the beach, although there is usually a parking that fee applies on summer weekends and holidays. (Wellington, Ontario, Canada)
