Whaleback Light Observation Point
Whaleback Light Observation Point, located at the end of the pier in Fort Foster Park, provides a direct view of Whaleback Lighthouse standing guard at the mouth of the Piscataqua River. The lighthouse rises from a rocky islet, framed by rolling waves and a vast ocean horizon that make it an excellent subject for seascape and maritime photography. The long pier offers clean sightlines and strong leading lines for composition, especially during sunrise or golden hour when soft light enhances the textures of the water and stone. The surrounding coastline includes rocky outcrops, tidal pools, and distant views of Kittery and Portsmouth, adding variety to the scene. Accessible by foot within the park, this spot offers both tranquility and dramatic views for coastal photography. (Kittery Point, Maine, United States)
